Ikram Mumba

Ikram Mumba is a young professional performing artist based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He recently graduated from a 3-year professional dance course with Muda Africa where he was trained in contemporary and African dance forms.

Through this program, he had the chance to work with both local and international choreographers including Ian Mwaisunga (Tanzania), Tadhi Alawi (Tanzania), Matthieu Nieto (France), Isis Van Gemert (Netherlands), Vanessa Tamburi (Italy), Frank Mugisha (Uganda), Marcel Leemann (Switzerland), Robert Ngoroma (Tanzania), Samwel Japhet (Tanzania), Johnny Autin (France) and Anouk Smulders (Netherlands). Working with many different choreographers has helped Ikram learn different styles of movement and enabled him to be a better performer.

In 2023, Ikram was selected to participate in an exchange with Mayotte dance company 'Kazya dance' over the next 2 years where they are jointly creating a production addressing deforestation and touring schools to collect youth solutions. Ikram has performed on several well-known platforms in Tanzania such as Wikiendi, Marafiki festival, Bagamoyo festival, Time 2 Dance festival , Jukwaa Huru and the Sanaa blast festival organized by the University of Dar es Salaam. Currently he is the treasurer of the  AFRICAN ROOTS dance company, which produces dance performances and offers dance classes.
