Shamira, a.ka. Shamour, is a professional dancer in the fields of urban, contemporary, Tanzanian traditional and Zulu dance from southern part of Africa. After training at The Hakuna Matata school of acrobatics and Muda Africa, she was selected to join the Circus Mama Africa and performed in Australia, Turkey, Germany, Finland and Sweden. Shamour has also appeared in the music videos of Tanzania’s most famous musicians, Diamond Platinum and Mbosso.

To support her goal to inspire women dance artists to believe in their talents, she co-founded and currently directs ‘The Queens’ dance group in Dar es Salaam, where she teaches and creates performing arts productions. They have recently performed at the Haba na Haba international dance festival and Dansi tena online dance festival.

Under the dramaturg guidance of Moise Toure and Francis Viet, Shamira is currently working on a new production which will be shown at the Time 2 Dance festival in September 2023.
