Hamissi Amdallah
Hamissi Amdallah a.k.a Afro-khalifa, is the artistic director of Team Afro K.A.S.A, a dance instructor, choreographer, monitor and events organizer.
He is the founder of Get Up & Groove dance academy and Kigali Afro Warriors Squad.
He started dancing with the aim of becoming famous but realized later that dance is the foundation of his life, and that it interests young people.
He believes he is capable of understanding what his community wants. Through his initiatives, he is supporting NGOs by teaching and emphasizing dance as a support of healing processes.
Dance can build strong relationships, restore dignity and create hope for vulnerable children and adults, giving them the opportunity to develop their talents, ethics and to create their own narratives.
He created a unique style called Afro-Intore which fuses Afro house, House, kuduro dance and the Rwandan traditional dance Intore. It had a great impact among youth's lives and it became very popular.
His social and cultural organisations provide performances and platforms for dialogue, education, nutrition, monitoring and evaluations. Above all, these initiatives create means of expression of freedom, job and career opportunities for the dance community.
He wishes to grow and strengthen a flourishing dance scene to reach local and international audiences for the contribution of developing a sustainable dance community.
He wants to offer professional opportunities, safe spaces and trainings while bringing human warmth, psychological support, great ambition and new aspirations to his local community through workshops and talk sessions.
