Isiaka Mbarushimana

Isiaka Mbarushimana is a Rwandan certified professional dancer, choreographer, performer, dance teacher and Director of Next move Dance Company.

He started dancing at 10 years old and in 2015 started the Connectors dance crew using different dancing styles: hip-hop, dance hall, Afro house and krump.

In 2016 started competing in the Onstage dance competition and Akadiho competition. Isiaka always wanted to become a professional dancer as it was the easiest way for him to express  himself, create awareness and provoke discussions.

In 2017 Isiaka met Wesley Ruzibiza, the director of Amizero and he started to attend his contemporary dance training for 5 years. He worked with choreographers such as Kettlyn Noel, Wanjiru Kamuyu and Merlin Niykam.

In 2018 Isiaka co-founded with Denis Rugema  a dance class called Next move dance class where they taught urban dance styles.

This evolved into an annual event called next move dance camp where they trained dancers in different dance techniques and choreographed dance pieces which were selected for the  Batalo East festival in Uganda), EANT festival in Rwanda and the Kenya international theater festival.

In 2019, Isiaka was casted in a performance called Generation 25 and was nominated as project coordinator with a choreographer from the UK.

In 2021 was selected for a performance called BOY BAND choreographed by Mattie Nieto in collaboration with Amizero Company and French institute.

Isiaka believes dance can be a doorway for understanding humanity.
