Zefania is a Tanzanian dancer, choreographer, teacher, yoga instructor and founder of the Waka Waka Dance Theatre group and co-manager of teh Waka Waka Art festival in Dar es Salaam. Through dance, Zefania feels that he is free and has everything he needs. He focuses on creating choreographies which address social issues such as climate change and human rights and he trains people to speak out with their body so they can find a body and mind balance.

Experienced in contemporary dance, traditional Tanzanian dances, Afropop, Dancehall and Singeli, Zefania has participated in many festivals: Time 2 Dance and Haba na Haba festivals in Tanzania, Batalo East in Uganda and East Africa’s Got Talent in Kenya. After winning the Time 2 Dance festival competition with this duet Tamaa, he went on to choreograph dancers in the ‘Nina Ndoto Kubwa’ musical produced by Love Arts Tanzania. He participated in the Environment Dance project by Christoph Winkler from Germany and his latest choreography ‘Who is Right” was screened at the Laois platform in Dublin, Ireland. Zefania is currently choreographing dancers in a new musical entitled ‘Hii ni Africa” under the direction of Abella Bateyunga and funded by Ignite Culture.
