Basomingera Sioni
—
Basomingera Sioni was born and raised in Rwanda. Everything changed when he encountered dance in the Shekinah drama team. He loved dancing, and he started to realize how his body movement can speak to the world.
As he graduated from high school, he wanted to pursue his dancing on a professional level. For that reason, he joined Amizero dance Kompagnie’s programs, where he learnt more about urban, traditional dance and contemporary dance and had the opportunity to interact with professional dance artists from different countries. He also participated in Mashirika performing art activities and learnt more about theatre dance.
Sioni was then selected to perform at different festivals: East African Nights of Tolerance Festival in 2018 and 2019 by Amizero Kompagnie, Ubumuntu arts festival in 2021by Mashirika Performing Arts and Quest2thecure by Shekinah drama Team, where Sioni was one of the choreographers.
Sioni loves to work with others and share techniques with other dancers. Also, he never hesitates to ask others for help in his dance career. He believes in his dance as a universal language. Everyone can receive a message from body movement.
