Pili Maguzo

Pili Maguzo is an experienced dancer, choreographer and trainer. She started as a professional dancer in 2002 and performed at Music Crossroads (Mozambique, 2009), Zanzibar International Film Festival (Zanzibar, 2012) and Hifa festival (Zimbabwe, 2013).

With Lumumba dance theater, she danced in over 50 performances at the Du Sud festival in France and Spain in 2019. Then she founded and launched the Bahati Female band in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in 2020. It nurtures the dance, music and acrobatic skills of budding female artists. Their productions have been showcased at the Sauti za Busara festival, Marafiki Music Festival, Nafasi Art Space’s Wikiendi Live, Goethe Institute and Alliance Francaise in Dar es Salaam.

At the end of 2021, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan presented the Bahati Female Band with musical equipment at State House as a recognition of the band's contribution in efforts to uplift Tanzanian women.In 2022 Pili was elected as one of the 16 Champions fighting against Gender-Based Violence and received her award from Ambassador Manfredo Fanti - Head of European Union Delegation to Tanzania and embassies.

Pili is a talented artist who started rising up around 2002 as traditional dancer from the local group. Pili has done many dance workshops in and out Tanzania like with Aloyce Makonde, Tanzania (2016) Aida Diaz Colmero, Spain (2014) Aida Diaz Colmero, Spain (2013) HIFA Dance Workshops, Zimbabwe (2013), Camilla Ekelof from Regionteater Vast, Sweden (2011), Paul Chevillard, Gemmes et Compagnie, France (2010)
