Tiko first started dancing with local dance groups in his neighbourhood in 1999 at the age of seven. Later on he was noticed by the Machungwa cultural dance troupe who gave him his first job. From there he started attending private dance classes and workshops given by institutions such as Haba na Haba, Muda Africa and the Hakuna Matata acrobatic school.

He founded and currently directs the T-Africa dance group which won 1st prize at the Dance 100% East Africa TV competition in 2012 and 1st prize at the Sakata Mashariki competition in Kenya in 2015. They were also solicited to perform at the prestigious Kilimanjaro Music Awards.

Tiko has been selected to work with prominent choreographers such as Nia Love (USA), Robert Ngoroma (Tanzania) and Camilla Ekeloff (Sweden) with performances shown at the Time 2 Dance and Haba na Haba dance festivals in Dar es Salaam.

He has regularly performed with the Mama Africa and Circus Africa as a dancer and acrobat between 2017 and  2022 with tours in Germany, Finland, Sweden, Australia, Qatar and Bahrain.

His latest solo entitled ‘ Black Skin’ challenges the youth of Tanzania to stop bleaching their skin and to be proud of their colour. The solo was selected for the Time 2 Dance festival 2022 and for the online Dansi Tena festival in 2021.

TIko stands as a proud Tanzanian, carrying his flag all over the world to show what his country is made of.
